This couple is gorgeous, we know - but look how happy they are… you can see how much fun they were able to have on their stress-free wedding day - it’s all over their faces, and their body language. They just had the best. day. ever. And Emily Ventura made that happen! Well, we had a big part of it too ;)

From one of our favorite weddings this year, we have Alissa and Clint. That look of pure joy on her face? Maybe it’s the fact that she just married her dream man, but MAYBE it’s because her wedding was well planned and ran oh-so-smoothly thanks to her planner, Maria!

WEDDING PLANNERS - DO YOU NEED ONE? AREN’T THEY EXPENSIVE? I CAN DO THIS ON MY OWN!

Alright guys - we get it. We’ve heard it all before, a million times. “Why do I need a wedding planner?” “I just can’t afford one.” or our personal favorite: “I’m a pretty good planner, I got this.” Honey, let us tell you what…. you don’t got this. You may be type A off the charts, but having a professional by your side, who has your back, is worth every penny. Which may not even be as costly as you think! Today, we’re breaking it down for you, our top reasons to hire a planner!

  1. Been There, Done That! Hiring a planner lets you and your family enjoy the day, instead of getting wrapped up in all the details. Planners often know which vendors shine, and which ones you may want to avoid. For example, if you’re envisioning a specific type of flower arrangement, table setting, or overall vibe, often planners will know which vendor will knock your idea out of the park! At Funky Olive, we prefer to work with planners who are referring us to their couples because they know that we’re a good fit, stylistically, budget, timeline, expertise, customer service and just general awesomeness!

2. Invest in Yourself! Did you know that planners have different package options that work with your budget? They can offer Full-Service, Month-Of, and anything in between. You may be surprised with all the options. For example, maybe you want someone you can trust there for you every step of the way, or you just need someone to coordinate the final details. Some planners will even have an inventory of rentable items to bring your vision to life!

3. Your Very Own Personal Translator! Your planner is a stress-buffer for you. They take care of coordinating your busy timeline and vendor deadlines. They also can translate any wedding lingo that goes over your head! Household count? Response card language? Crowd control necessary? For example, your planner can speak to you in language you understand, and translate your vision to your invitation designer (heck, any of your vendors) in a way that doesn’t leave out any details. It saves headaches, time, extra emails and phone calls between you and your vendors. Believe it or not, designers like us would rather not bug you about every little detail, we’d rather bug a professional planner, so that you’re able to enjoy the wedding process!

4. VIP Treatment, Baby! A lot of times vendors rely on the business of trusted wedding planners and will be more flexible for a planner they love working with that brings them a ton of business. Plus, at the end of your reception, when you’re tired and want to just rest or move to another location, your planner can take care of the details. For example, making sure the venue saves the rest of your cake, or safely stores your gifts and keepsakes. Did you know that Funky Olive offers lots of perks to our wedding planner’s clients? Things like preferred, exclusive consultation times, guest and return address printing services - ON THE HOUSE, and so much more!

5. Time is Money, Baby! Sure, a planner is an added expense, but it could end up saving you money in the long run. If you choose an unknown vendor and they don't honor their contract, you may have last minute extra charges that bust your budget, plus the stress of finding a new one on short notice. Planners can keep your budget in mind for you when putting together your big day. No late night stress-fests calculating how much of your budget is left, and how many items are still on your To-Do list.
